Jenn’s Better than Restaurant Croutons

The best homemade, better than restaurants, croutons that are crunchy, yet melt in your mouth, and taste so flavorful.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 soft French loaf (Walmart bakery)
  • 1-2 tbsp freeze dried herbs 1-2 tbsp each of Basil, Thyme, Chives, Parsley, Italian, and Sage
Litehouse
  • 1-2 sticks Real butter
  • 6-8 minced garlic
  • Fresh or powdered parmesan
  • olive oil
  • Course salt
  • fresh ground pepper

Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Small saucepan
  • 1 Large mixing bowl
  • 1 Large spoon

Method
 

  1. preheat oven to 325°
  2. sprinkle cubes with olive oil and salt; place in oven for 30-45 minutes
  3. in a small saucepan melt the butter, all seasonings, salt & pepper to taste and let it cook for a minute (long enough to dissolve the salt)
  4. add minced garlic and cook for, 30-60 seconds
  5. turn off the oven and stove
  6. put your dried out croutons in a bowl
  7. pour your herb infused butter over the croutons and toss, or stir them around with a large spoon/your gloved hand
  8. sprinkle copious amount of Parmesan and toss again
  9. now take a bite. We call these "chef snacks" and it's completely acceptable because every good chef tastes their food

Notes

I have spent many, many times going over the best process, herbs, and flavor profiles to what I believe to be the perfect crouton of the non H2O Variety, of course. I finally did it and I wanted to share it here with all of you. It felt fitting
